Master of the Silent Auction

We left on Tuesday morning for an ag conference in London. Pete attended all (LOL) the meetings and I enjoyed the cooking shows on TV. They had given away our reserved room and so we had to make do with a two room suite on the executive floor of the London Hilton. To get there we had to insert our room key in the slot in the elevator. All this preamble means we didn't have any late night visitors because they couldn't get to us. Last night was the best time as we participated in a silent auction. Lots of appetizers and free pop. The proceeds from the silent auction are used to fund six $2,000.00 bursaries for students studying agriculture. This meant that I could spend Pete's money so I felt FREE. I went home with everything I bid on. I stayed right by each item and made sure that my name was the last one on the list. Heidi thought she might like to play with the iPod touch and since we have become so technologically Illiterate, we are sending it to California tomorrow. Can you imagine - only two more sleeps to date night. This has been a tough week.

Puppy Love

this update is for Karri Stewart. When we saw your family picture on Nanamcpatti's blog with your dog Buddy, we came to the obvious conclusion that the two dogs really are cousins. Don't you think they look alike?

Snug as a Bug in a Rug

I came up with an idea to design some antler hooks for my pots and pans. My brother Tom sent me two sets of antlers. I shared the idea with my carpenter and here is the end result. I can hang all my pots and pans which gave me two empty cupboards for more stuff.

This little stove has no problem heating the cabin day and night. Pete gathered breakfast and I cooked it.
Here it is - tube steak

Yes we are full of beans

Time to dismantle the Christmas tree and Molly needed to be in a picture too.

Enjoying the January sunshine

We visited Grandma today and found her in her chair enjoying the sunshine. She loves it when we bring her homemade cookies (chocolate) and ginger ale. Today was the best day she has had for some time.

We had to shovel our way into the lake house.
Patiently waiting for the appliance repair guy to finish hooking up my washer and dryer

I have to say it was Lindsay Hill's blog that enticed me to try this blogging thing too! I love to read all the fun things that that going on in her family.SO...Im going to give this thing a try.

 Friday is my favorite day of the week. It is our date day. We leave for the city around noon, go to my favorite kitchen shop. We hit costco and buy things for the next week, storing them in a cooler we have in the back of the yukon.  Then often we catch a good show and meet up with our dear friends the Remarks for dinner and many laughs. Last night when our evening was over we picked up some breakfast treats and Molly,  our little dog, and headed to our lake house for the night. It was so beautiful the trees were all glazed with ice and the cabin was so toasty. It was wonderful! Peter took pictures. They don't do it justice. The seasons are so beautiful. I love them {As long as I'm warm}
